Sparring Duels are one of the best ways for a pirate to enjoy tharselves. In a spar, ye often fight to the near-death for glory or money. On me deck, there are a few twists. Read on to find out more and become the Master Duelist yerself, matie.
The duels around here are fought out in AOL chat rooms on the program CHUB: Annihalation. Each duelist gets a set number of 600 HP, and try to diminish the other's as quicky as possible. Each character starts out with thar own weaknesses, strengths, skills, and attributes, but as ye win more duels or earn more gold pieces, ye can learn more skills and buy better equipment to add more moves to yer selection or to add higher numbers to yer attributes.
Every crew member starts out with one of the following weapons of their choice: Cutlass, Rapier, or Longsword. The Cutlass is the most powerful of these three, but does little in stunning or otherwise hampering an enemy. The Rapier is the weakest, but pays off with its long range and the ease at which it disables an enemy. The longsword is somewhere in between the two. Depending on your rank, ye may start out with a revolver as well. The .45 has better range and stopping power than the .38. Revolvers are powerful and useful, but require the use of bullets, which cost money.
The terms of the bet for the duel need to be set BEFORE the duel. For example, if Pew were to duel Ani, they would both have to agree on the item or gold they would give up if they lost. Both sides have to agree with both prizes. A person can never be forced into a duel if they dont want to be.
Duels don't have to have a prize. Feel free to spar for fun or practice.
With the purchase of better armor and gear, your defense and power goes up. With each duel won, ye gain a level. Each character has a plot set out of which skills they learn at each level(coming soon). All characters start out at level 1. As ye gain levels, ye learn more and more skills. Below is a list of all the Skills and what they do:
Punch:Attacks with a move power of 30. Has 5% chance of stunning opponent.
Kick:Attacks with a move power of 35. Has a 10% chance of stunning opponent.
Headbutt:Attacks with a move power of 15. Has an 80% chance of stunning opponent.
Cutlass:Attacks with a move power of 100. Has a 5% chance of stunning opponent and a 10% chance of slowing them.
Longsword:Attacks with a move power of 75. Has a 15% chance of stunning opponent and 30% chance of slowing them.
Rapier:Attacks with a move power of 50. Has a 30% chance of stunning opponent and 60% chance of slowing them.
.38 Revolver:Attacks with a move power of 70. Has a 20% chance of stunning opponent, a 50% chance of slowing them, and a 10% chance of weakening them .
.45 Revolver:Attacks with a move power of 90. Has a 60% chance of stunning opponen, 70% chance of slowing them and 25% chance of weakening them.
Enhanced Damage:With this skill, all your move powers are increased by 10.
Enhance Gear:With this skill, you can enhance one suit of gear to the next level for free for everytime you gain 3 levels.
Concentration:This skill boosts your attack power and speed temporarily in battle.
First Strike:When one has this skill, they always get a free hit before the other person is allowed to attack. If two players have "First Strike", then play goes as normal.
Hold:Attacks with a move power of 50. Steals HP.
Finisher:When one aqquires this skill, that lucky pirate gets to create a custom "finishing" move. When executed, it lowers your opponents level by 1.
Fast Growth:Player with this skill gets credit for two fights after each win.
Sabre:Attacks with a power of 140. Has a 20% chance of stunning opponent and 50% chance of slowing them.
Broad Sword:Attacks with a move power of 80. Has a 10% chance of stunning opponent and 60% chance of slowing them.
Dagger:Attacks with a move power of 45. Has a 30% chance of stunning opponent.
Whip:Attacks with a move power of 20. Has a 40% chance of weakening opponent.
Backhand:Attacks with a move power of 70. Has a 25% chance of stunning opponent.
Adrenaline Rush:Raises Defense.
Dual Wield:Allows you to mix and match two different weapons, allowing you to add their move damage into one sum and use the status effects from the best one(Example: If Cutlass and Broadsword were mixed, move power would be 180). Sabre cannot be mixed.
Sword Skill:Player with this skill gets an added 10 move points to every sword weapon.
Gun Skill:Player with this skill gets an added 10 move points to every gun weapon.
Pikachu:Attacks with a move power of 23 and with an Electric element. Has a stun rating of 15%. VERY useful against opponents with high defense.
Enhanced Combat:Adds 10 percent to every status effect thats above 0 on every skill.
